Article Summary
This article describes how Glow C integrates with IFTTT, basic functionality, and additional troubleshooting steps if you encounter any difficulties.
Article Overview
Basic Functionality
IFTTT, or “If This Then That” functions by linking different applications through “Applets,” which are either premade or custom-built. If a certain event occurs, then another action is prompted. Glow C can function as the “If” component of this logic chain (i.e. if the temperature reaches a certain level) or the “that” component (i.e. then the smart plug switch turns on to activate the attached device).
This role that Glow C serves is organized under a concept called “Services.” If you want Glow C to function as a trigger or as an action, you should select the “Awair” service.
Setting up IFTTT
IFTTT is a third-party integration that allows you to extend the functionality of your Glow C. For example, using IFTTT you can record VOC level in a Google spreadsheet or activate the Glow C trigger in response to certain conditions.
Use these setup instructions to get started:
-
Log in or sign up at IFTTT
-
Click on your name in the upper right corner and select “New Applet”
-
Click “+this”
-
Enter Awair into the search bar and click on the box that says “Awair”
-
If prompted to connect Awair and IFTTT, click on “connect” and enter your Awair email and password to log in
-
Select the trigger you'd like want to use
-
Use the dropdown menus to configure the trigger, then click “Create trigger”
Recommended Uses
Integrating IFTTT with Awair opens up a host of possibilities for environmental monitoring and control. Some “Applets” are already created for you, but there are unlimited possibilities.
Troubleshooting Problems
If you encounter problems while using IFTTT, use these troubleshooting tips:
-
If your IFTTT Applets are not triggering, you may need to perform a Power Cycle or Factory Reset. If this does not solve the problem, please restart your router. If this does not work, please contact our customer support team for assistance.
-
IFTTT requires that you select a specific device to be triggered. Please double-check in your Applet configuration that you have selected the name of the Glow device you hope to serve as a trigger or be activated.
-
You may also need to re-link your IFTTT account. To do so, please open the IFTTT app and follow the instructions to de-link and relink your account.
