Basic Functionality 

Nest allows Glow C to serve as a trigger for the internal fan mode using VOCs. Your HVAC system must have a fan mode connected to the Nest thermostat for this integration to function properly. Glow C activates your home’s fan system for 30 minutes when the designated air quality thresholds are exceeded. You can have multiple Glow C devices connected to your Nest. 

Setting Up Nest

Nest integrates directly with Glow C, allowing you to use sensor readings to directly trigger your HVAC system without the use of third party integrations like IFTTT. Glow can only activate your HVAC’s fan mode through Nest, and must first be registered within the Awair app itself. Please follow these instructions to connect Glow with Nest: 

  1. Open the Awair App, navigate to the Glow C device you’d like to integrate with, and press the “Awair+” tab

  2. Navigate to the “Nest Thermostat” section, and tap “Connect with Nest”

  3. Sign in to your Nest account

  4. Agree to the “Works with Nest” terms and conditions and select the Nest Thermostat you want to integrate with

  5. In the Awair App, select the VOC levels that will trigger your Nest fan system 

  6. Tap “Save” to finalize your Glow C integration 

 

Troubleshooting Problems

If Glow C is not activating Nest, try the following troubleshooting steps: 

  • If Nest is not reacting to Glow C thresholds, it may be that your Nest does not have a fan mode. Please double-check your HVAC system to ensure that Glow C is compatible with Nest. 

  • If Glow C is not triggering Nest, you may need to perform a Power Cycle or Factory Reset. If this does not solve the problem, please restart your router. 

  • IFTTT provides an alternative connection with Nest, which may resolve some consistency problems. Please connect Glow C with Nest via IFTTT through the instructions provided.
