  • Can Awair detect cigarette smoke and/or pet dander?

Yes. Cigarette smoke emits toxic chemicals and increases the VOC levels. If this happens, Awair will let you know that the levels of chemicals in the air have drastically increased. If you have Nest, you can turn on the fan automatically when this happens.

  • I'm Allergic To Pet Dander. How Does Awair Help Me?

Yes. Awair detects dusts and particles. Pet dander is dead skin, which many people are allergic to. An excess of pet dander attracts dust mites, which people are also allergic to. Awair senses when all of this is going on, alerts you and gives suggestions on how to manage your home's dust and dander.

  • How Accurate is Awair?

Awair uses state of the art sensing technology for our sensors: Temperature, Humidity, CO2, VOCs and Dust sensors. Each sensor is first pre-calibrated by the sensor manufacturer and then goes through a chamber- enabled calibration procedure on our production line to achieve the maximum level of accuracy. Also all the sensors are placed into specific locations to ensure sufficient space for natural airflow and consistent readings. Awair also uses dedicated CO2, dust, and VOC sensors.

  • Learn to use Awair

Awair measures Temperature, Humidity, CO2, Chemicals and Dust. It then analyzes their aggregate levels to determine air quality and assign an Awair Score on a 0 to 100 color-coded scale. 0 being poor air quality and 100 being awesome.

  • Placing the Awair Device

Awair can be used in any location, but we recommend that you store it near standard surface level (48 inches or 122cm) for more accurate readings (because CO2 doesn’t rise). We also suggest placing it an inch from a wall; being too close to a wall prevents natural air flow, which is a necessity for accurate readings.

  • Losing Connection

Awair needs to be connected to your WiFi router in order for it to work properly. If the device is blinking Try the following steps to see if that helps:

    • Power recycle the device by simply unplugging the device and plugging the device back in.
    • Reset the device. On the back side of the device, there is a reset button right next to the power connector, in a vent hole. Press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds until you see a new passcode and blue LED light on the display of the device. The historical data that you had with the device won’t be lost because it is backed up on our server.
  • Does Glow work on 2.4 gHZ or 5 gHZ networks?

Awair only works on 2.4 gHZ wifi networks for now.

  • If my WiFi gets disconnected, what happens to my Awair?

As long as Awair is plugged into an outlet, it will try to reconnect via WiFi. You can see it searching as the white dot light is blinking. Awair won’t be able to measure and save the data during the disconnection.

  • How Is Awair Updated? Do I have to buy the newest version all the time?

Awair uses automatic “Over the air” (OTA) downloads for firmware updates. New features will be periodically added without any user effort required.

  • Does Awair need to be connected to WiFi at all times? Can I see Awair data remotely?

Awair does need to be connected via WiFi in order to function properly. The reason is because the air quality data is relayed to our servers which then gets relayed back into your app in order to provide best analysis.

Once you have set up Awair to be connected via WiFi, you access the data anywhere you go.
