What is the "Local Sensors" feature?

We would love for you to be one of the first to try out this new feature! Enabling Awair Element as a local sensor would enable an on-device HTTP server with sensor values and device information. This feature is only accessible locally on your internal network and routers by default protect it behind your firewall so it is only available to you and others on your network.

As such, we cannot support with troubleshooting beyond enabling the feature remotely, but you can use various scripting languages (e.g. python, javascript, etc. - and even iOS Shortcuts) and platforms (e.g. SmartThings, Homebridge, Home Assistant, OpenHAB, etc.) to fetch sensor data as frequently as you wish. This feature will not affect cloud connectivity and runs in parallel (or optionally completely disconnected from the internet).

Note: the "Enable Local Sensors" button will return to blue once you exit the page in the app, but this does not necessarily indicate that the HTTP server has been disabled. If in doubt, you can always press "Enable" again to turn it on. Also, a Factory Reset will disable the Local Sensors feature.

Supported Products: Awair 2nd Edition, Element, and Mint are supported at this time.
