Our devices are equipped with a Fine Dust PM2.5 sensor, and sometimes PM2.5 can be caused by smoke, such as cigarette smoke, a burning candle, or wildfire smoke, but there are also other sources of PM2.5. So while a rise in PM2.5 may mean that someone is smoking, Awair Element does not uniquely detect cigarette smoke.
