Where should I place my Awair?

Awair can work anywhere indoors. However, to ensure the most accurate readings, there’s a few things you’ll want to keep in mind.

Place your Awair near standing height

Some gasses, such as CO, are not as dense as the rest of the air around you and tend to rise upwards. Other gasses, such as CO2  do not rise, but remain within standing height or lower to the ground. In order to get the most accurate reading of the chemicals you’re breathing, it’s best to keep your Awair on a shelf, table or counter at standing head height or lower.

Make sure your Awair can breathe

Awair needs a little bit of natural air flow. For this reason you’ll want to keep it at least an inch or two away from any walls. This will provide natural airflow to the sensors, allowing it to maintain consistently accurate readings.

Leave it in place

In order to get the most accurate readings possible, Awair calibrates some of its sensors to its  environment. Moving it from room to room can temporarily affect the accuracy of the readings.

One Awair can cover roughly 1000 sq. feet. We recommend keeping one in each room where you or the people you care about spend a lot of time, such as the bedroom, living room, kitchen or nursery.

How should I clean and maintain my Awair?

When cleaning the outside of your Awair use a soft, clean, lint-free cloth. Do not use water, cleaning solutions or any other liquids.

It’s a good idea to clean the large vent hole occasionally. To clean the vent hole use a can of air duster. Hold the can at a 45 degree angle and spray in a slow, circular motion. Do not spray any liquid or insert anything into the hole. We recommend cleaning the vent every 4-6 months.
